Classes

Superior Tenant Workshop:  
HOME offers our Superior Tenant education program through various partnerships in the community. This class teaches renters and home seekers the ins and outs of renting, including landlord responsibilities and tenant rights and responsibilities. To arrange a class for your group, please contact the Director of the Center for Housing Education at 354-0641.

Money Management and Credit Recovery Class: 
(Open to public and no RSVP necessary)
First Thursday of the month from 6:15 - 8:15pm
HOME's 1st floor conference center at 700 E. Franklin St. Richmond.

Homeownership/Pre-purchase Classes:
These classes are held monthly and open to you after acceptance into our Pre-purchase program.  Please apply here to receive a copy of the homeownership package you need to get started on the path to homeownership. Or call our office at (804) 354-0641 and we can mail one to you.

Pre-Discharge Bankruptcy Education Program (Requires RSVP and Bankruptcy case number)
A Personal Financial Management Course that includes: Budget Development, Money Management, Use of Credit, and Consumer Information. This program is approved to issue certificates evidencing completion of a personal financial management instructional course. If you want consideration to waive the class fee, income verification is required prior to the class date. A valid photo ID and your Notice of Filing (bankruptcy case#) are required.
Last Tuesday of Each Month from 6pm-8pm
HOME's 1st floor conference center at 700 E. Franklin St. Richmond.
Cost: $50 per participant (cash or money order paid on day of class only)
Class Limit: 40 participants (First come, First serve)

HOME also offers classes to housing industry professionals.  HOME is certified by both the VA Real Estate Board and the VA Fair Housing Board to provide several Fair Housing Classes.  HOME offers the following classes periodically throughout the year as well as can be reserved for your company or group: Fair Housing For Rental Managers, Reasonable Accomodations and Modifications,  Hot Topics: Real Estate Sales and Lending Issues.  These are fee-based classes.
