Housing Help and Services » What to do if:
Are you having a dispute with your landlord?

Landlords and tenants both have certain rights and responsibilities. It is important to know your responsibilities (such as paying the rent on time and being a good neighbor), but also important that you know what your rights are. There are many areas in which we can help. Do you believe that you are being evicted unfairly? Are you having trouble getting your landlord to make necessary repairs? Do you have a disability that is causing a disagreement between you and your landlord? Are you having trouble getting your deposit back?

HOME's Housing Advocacy Specialists will answer your questions and help you resolve your landlord/tenant issues. Our Housing Advocacy Specialists are available to take calls every Tuesday and Thursday.

In most cases, relationships between landlords and tenants are governed by the Virginia Residential Landlord and Tenant Act (VRLTA). Click here for a copy.
